Brian Knetl, M.A.

Mr. Brian Knetl is Associate Provost at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. Prior to his current role, he served as Dean of Liberal Arts and founding Associate Dean of the Center for Adjunct Faculty Engagement at Harper. Before his venture into administration, he was a full-time faculty member for seven years in the Theatre Arts Department at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN where he directed university productions and taught courses in dramatic theory and literature, theatre history, and directing. Brian holds a B.A. and M.A. in Theatre Arts and is currently completing his Ed.D. at Loyola University-Chicago.

At Harper, Brian provides leadership for several cross-disciplinary student success programs at the college including International Education, the Start Smart Program for first year students, the Honors Program, student support services, and learning communities. Additionally, he provides leadership for Harper’s Academy for Teaching Excellence, Title III Grant, and is co-leader of the Achieving the Dream initiative. Brian has been active building and maintaining relationships with Harper’s high school partners that have contributed to the development of transition courses and a high school to college Health Careers Pathway.

Brian lives in Homewood, Illinois with his wife, Amy. Together they are raising four incredible children: Thomas, 21; Jack 19; Lily 16; and Charlie; 14.
