IRSC Nursing Program

The associate degree nursing program at Indian River State College, on the east coast of Florida, prepares students for a career as a registered nurse and, in doing so, meets critical regional workforce needs. While some colleges would rest content with the exceptional outcomes this program boasts—a 99% retention rate and 92% employment rate—IRSC continuously works to adapt to a changing healthcare environment and student population. Recognizing an increase in enrollment and diversity of learning styles, the program redesigned its curriculum to give future nurses conceptual and critical thinking skills, while focusing on the National League for Nursing’s core values of caring, integrity, diversity, and excellence. Relationships with more than 150 health care agencies ensures the program is aligned to workforce demands. This dedication to preparing students is what makes this program so successful in meeting the region’s healthcare needs.
