Ventura Nursing Program

The consistently strong outcomes of the nursing program at Ventura College in southern California speak for themselves: 100% of students are employed one year after graduation, pass rates for the national certification exam for registered nurses are above average, and median annual earnings for graduates exceed $75,000. This is especially notable given that more than half the students are Hispanic and many are first-generation college students—populations historically underrepresented in higher education. Student supports are available at every step of the program, regional employers are heavily involved in revising program curriculum, and students get hands-on experience both in a simulation lab at the college and clinical assignments at local facilities. In a county with a notable nursing shortage, the program fulfills a crucial need for high-quality health care providers.
