Shanna Jackson, Ed.D.

Dr. Shanna Jackson will begin serving as President of Nashville State Community College on June 1, 2018. Prior to her appointment, Jackson served as the Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Williamson Campus for Columbia State Community College.  Jackson provided leadership from concept to construction for the $42 million campus that opened in 2016. Her responsibilities included maintaining oversight for facilities, programming, services and community engagement. Jackson also served Columbia State as the Dean of Extended Services leading four campuses, academic programs and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development.

Jackson began her career in manufacturing working for The Pillsbury Company. Her 20 years of higher education experience also includes leadership positions with Volunteer State Community College and South College. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a MBA from Florida A&M University and Ed. D. from Tennessee State University.

Active in numerous organizations, Jackson currently serves on the boards of TMA, Leadership Franklin, Mercy Community Healthcare Advisory Board, Wilson County Industrial Board and Williamson, Inc. She is the former Chair for Women in Business for Williamson, Inc. and a Regional Planning Commissioner for the City of Mount Juliet. Jackson is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Societas Docta, Inc. and Women in Higher Education in Tennessee (WHET). She is a past President of WHET and continues to serve on the Executive Board.
