Sue Cui is a senior program officer at Ascendium Education Group (formerly Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation) where she works to increase college attainment for first generation students, students of color, and those from low-income backgrounds. Great Lakes invests in a wide range of postsecondary student success projects from research to large-scale implementation. Sue is a member of the Latino Student Success Funders Group and on the steering committee of the Postsecondary Access & Attainment Impact Group at Grantmakers for Education. Prior to joining Great Lakes, Sue made grants in higher education and STEM learning at the Helmsley Charitable Trust. She has worked in the Office of the Newark Philanthropic Liaison and in direct service on youth programs at Rutgers University. Her previous grantmaking experience also includes corporate giving in arts, nutrition and domestic violence awareness at Altria. Sue graduated from New York University where she studied anthropology and art history.
