Matthew Campbell, Ed.D.

Dr. Matthew Campbell serves as the vice president for learning and student success at Pierce College Puyallup, a mission-driven, data-informed, and equity-minded Achieving the Dream Leader College of Distinction in Washington state. With shared oversight for instruction and student services across a multi-college district, he provides leadership and support for an amazing team of deans, faculty, and staff to fulfill the student success mission of the institution.

Dr. Campbell has enjoyed more than 25 years in higher education, with a focus on access, completion, and transition strategies whilst leading highly collaborative cross-campus endeavors in support of students, faculty, and staff. While he has worked in a variety of institutions, from professional schools to research universities, community colleges are where he finds his deepest sense of purpose. He is strongly committed to racial and social justice, democratic education, and ethics in policy, with a keen focus on broad access to—and engagement with—data in order to inform priorities, inspire creativity, and realize solutions.

Dr. Campbell holds a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Temple University, a master’s of education in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Washington, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Delaware.
