Georgia Lorenz

2021-22 Aspen New Presidents Fellow
Dr. Georgia Lorenz began her tenure as the third president of Seminole State College of Florida in 2018. Lorenz brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education to the College. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Southern California.

Lorenz served as vice president of Academic Affairs at Santa Monica College (SMC) in California. Lorenz had direct responsibility for providing leadership and administrative oversight to the college's instructional programs, including all academic departments, curriculum, satellite campuses, learning resources, distance education, and continuing education.

Lorenz has worked with the outstanding faculty and staff at Seminole State to build on its record of success. Seminole State was named by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program as one of the top 150 community colleges in the country. Aspen and the Siemens Foundation awarded the college's Networking program the Equity and Excellence in STEM Award in 2019. Seminole State's commitment to equity and academic excellence was also recognized with the Association of Community College Trustees Southern Region Equity Award.

Lorenz builds partnerships with educational and business leaders and engages with faculty, staff, students and the community. She is committed to open access, ensuring that a high quality, affordable, college education is available to all students, including those from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Lorenz serves on the boards of AdventHealth, First Place for Youth, IMPOWER, the Orlando Economic Partnership, and Florida Citrus Sports. Lorenz lives with her husband Mike in Lake Mary.
