Leah Barrett became the president of Northeast Community College in 2020, after serving as the vice president of student affairs for the Northern Wyoming Community College District.

Previously, she worked at four-year institutions across the United States in student affairs. She began at the University of Wyoming then moved to Arizona State University, Valparaiso University and Boise State University. She then served as the associate vice president for enrollment management and  student affairs at SUNY Brockport. 

She earned her B.A. in business and an MBA from the University of Wyoming and her Ed.D. at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. She is involved with professional and civic organizations and volunteers with youth sports. 

Her most profound volunteer work was in the 1990s, when she worked with the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. She lives in Norfolk, Nebraska with her husband and two sons.
