Theresa Felder

Dr. Theresa B. Felder began her tenure as the 10th President of Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland on January 4, 2021. She came to Harford Community College from Clark State Community College, in Springfield, Ohio, where she served as the senior vice president for student success. Prior to this, she has also served as a vice president of student affairs, an administrative dean for Clark State's largest branch campus, an academic affairs coordinator, a college access director, and a workforce development coordinator.

Felder is focused on providing access to higher education for all students. She is especially passionate about increasing the number of college graduates from first-generation and low-income backgrounds (which she explores in her doctoral dissertation).

Felder is active in the Harford County community and serves on various nonprofit boards, including the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Advisory Board, the Susquehanna Workforce Network, the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council, the Harford Business Round Table for Education, and the Harford Leadership Academy Board of Directors.

Felder began her professional career in corporate accounting and later became an independent consultant, specializing in job readiness and employment training. She completed her doctoral degree in higher education leadership at Northeastern University, and holds a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s in accounting from Syracuse University.

Felder and her husband, Greg, are settled in Havre de Grace, Maryland where they are in close proximity to their son, Gregory, who lives in Largo, Maryland, and works for the World Bank in Washington, DC. Their daughter, Taylor, is a recent graduate of Butler University.
