Donna McDaniel

2020-21 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
Dr. Donna C. McDaniel serves as the vice president of instruction at Texarkana College in Texas and has been in this position for seven years. Dr. McDaniel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in education and superintendent’s certification from Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and a doctorate of philosophy degree from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. She has over 21 years of experience in education and four years in the business industry. She served as both teacher and principal in K-12 education prior to joining Texarkana College.

Dr. McDaniel currently oversees TC’s academic divisions, health science and workforce programs, continuing education, curriculum development, professional development, distance education services, adult education, dual enrollment programs, library services, and accreditation, as well as recruiting, enrollment, advising, library, TRIO, and student support services. She leads by example, serving as an academic advisor and faculty for the college’s Learning Frameworks class, which is required of all first-time-in-college students. Dr. McDaniel was heavily involved in the design of this course. As part of TC’s reorganization of the student first-year experience, she facilitated the complete redesign of the physical space and structure of enrollment services, focusing on students by improving customer service and communication.

Dr. McDaniel recently received the highest award given by the Texas Association of Community Colleges, the Carl M. “Cheesie” Nelson Leadership Award. Dr. McDaniel has presented at many national, state, and local conferences.
