Jonathan Woodward

2020-21 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
As a small-town Mississippi boy, Jonathan Woodward began a career as a singer and guitarist and stepped into the realm of music leadership during his high school years. Dr. Woodward currently serves as executive vice president of teaching and learning and community campus for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He has taught every grade from kindergarten through college and held various leadership positions while working in Gulfport School District, MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus, and MGCCC’s Jefferson Davis Campus.

Outside of school, Dr. Woodward has a variety of interests. He serves as the past chair on the board of directors for the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, treasurer on the board of trustees for Goodwill of South Mississippi, Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, member of the Gulf Coast Business Council, graduate of Leadership Mississippi, graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast, and graduate of the Gulf Coast Business Council’s Masters Class. He is also a recipient of the One Coast Top 10 Under 40 Award. Dr. Woodward is actively involved in Crosspoint Church in Gulfport—a church he helped start in 2004—and serves as the worship pastor. Dr. Woodward regularly presents to organizations about current generational trends, technology, and leadership.

His most valued passions are his faith and family. Dr. Woodward lives in Biloxi with his wife, Eilene, and three children.
