Seleana Samuel

2023-24 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
Seleana Samuel serves as Senior Vice President of Business Operations for Lansing Community College. In this role, Dr. Samuel serves as a leader in the development, maintenance and application of policies and procedures for the college. She is also responsible for the development and implementation of operational strategies in line with the mission and vision of the college. Dr. Samuel provides executive oversight for the following areas of the college: Administrative Services, Information Technology Services, Human Resources, Risk Management and Legal Services, Compliance, Purchasing, Marketing, and Public Relations.

Prior to joining LCC, Dr. Seleana worked for the State of Michigan and various automotive companies. She was inspired to move into community college work because she experienced first-hand how short-term educational certificates and college degrees can positively impact the economic mobility of families. Her mother was the first person in her family to obtain a post-high school graduation certificate, and Dr. Samuel always admired her and credited her with sharing the importance of education. As a result of her mother’s influence, Dr. Samuel was the first person in her family to obtain a four-year degree. Today, she uses her position to serve as a state and national advocate for community colleges.

Dr. Samuel has a Bachelor of Arts in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from Spring Arbor University and a Doctor of Education in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University. She has served as a teaching fellow for the Ferris State University Doctorate in Community College Leadership program, and served on the board of directors for various state and national professional organizations.

Dr. Samuel has been employed with LCC since May 2013. She is married with two sons.
