Dr. Amy Maxeiner has served as the Vice President for Instruction at Black Hawk College since 2016. Prior to her work with Black Hawk College, she served in the roles of the Dean of Education and the Executive Dean of Mathematics, Sciences and Health Professions at McHenry County College for 7 years. Dr. Maxeiner taught at both Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois Chicago in their Physical Therapy Programs from 2001-2009. Prior to her transition to academia, Dr. Maxeiner worked as a physical therapist for 12 years.

Dr. Maxeiner earned a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, a Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University and a Doctorate of Education from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Maxeiner is a published writer, noted speaker and is involved in numerous community and professional groups.
