Angela Davis

Dr. Angela Davis is a transformative leader with a career spanning over twenty-five years, dedicated to cultivating leadership and addressing barriers to access and success in the business and higher education sectors. As the Vice President and Chief Talent & Equity Officer at Durham Technical Community College, Angela drives a comprehensive talent management strategy to fuel institutional growth, while leading equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. Her work centers on equity, removing institutional barriers to student access, and strategically supporting faculty and staff development to fortify student success.

Angela's community college journey began as an adjunct faculty member, evolving into roles such as career navigator and special assistant to the President for equity and inclusion. Her executive positions in banking and workforce development have equipped her with a unique perspective of the multifaceted challenges faced by community colleges today. Angela has a passion for coaching and empowers teams to transform cultures from deficit-focused to equity-centered, advancing institutional excellence.

She is an effective thought partner and team builder with a proven track record of developing collaborative partnerships that improve student and employee success. Angela’s highlighted accomplishments include creating an equity plan and scorecard integrated into the college’s strategic plan; rebuilding the compensation framework; launching a Leadership Academy for all supervisors and a President’s Emerging Leaders Institute for the college’s future executive leaders; developing a succession plan for each division; creating a new center to support the growth of faculty and staff; and standing up a new office to address employee health and wellness.

A Lakin Institute Fellow of the Presidents’ Round Table of African American CEOs of Community Colleges, Angela earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Executive Leadership from Wingate University and an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix. Angela is a member of the AACC Commission on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
