Corey McCray

Dr. McCray is a 23-year veteran educator and currently serves as the interim executive vice president and vice president for workforce at Tidewater Community College in Virginia. As such, he serves as chief academic officer, chief student service officer, and chief workforce officer.

Dr. McCray recently established TCC’s Skilled Trades Academy, the first of its size dedicated to expanding the skilled trades workforce in Virginia. Before coming to TCC, he served as executive director of the Pruden Center for Industry and Technology in Suffolk, Virginia. In that capacity he was a founding member of the Hampton Roads Public Works Academy and one of the first Governor’s STEM Academies for career and technical education. He was also president of the Virginia Association of Career and Technical Education Administrators. He served as outreach committee chairman of the advisory council at St. Leo University and a member of the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the CIVIC Leadership Institute board, and he continues as a Hampton Roads Workforce Executive Council and Virginia Ship Repair Association board member.

Dr. McCray holds a bachelor’s degree in workforce development and curriculum, a master’s of education, an advance studies certificate in school policy and leadership, and a Ph.D. in school leadership. A former teacher, coach, principal, and community college adjunct professor, Dr. McCray is also a proud military veteran.
