John Maduko

2021-22 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
Dr. John Maduko is vice president for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State). In this role, he serves as the chief academic, chief enrollment, chief student affairs, and chief marketing officer. The college, with nearly 14000 students, serves West-Central Minnesota and North Dakota’s Fargo Metro.

Dr. Maduko is a fellow for the Thomas Lakin Institute, an executive board member for ACAD, board member for NASPA’s James E. Scott Academy, member for Essentia Health’s Resource Allocation Oversight Committee, board member for HERDI Innovate, and Minnesota State System Indigenous Men and Men of Color Workgroup member.

As a first-generation Nigerian-American, Dr. Maduko’s career centers on advocacy and equitable outcomes for marginalized communities. His leadership philosophy is applied through a servant leader’s lens where inclusive practices, championing the advancement of those seeking to fulfill their success story, and valuing the diversity of individuals amplifies his service to others.

Prior to joining M State in 2019, he served as vice chancellor for student affairs at North Central Texas College. He was also a dean of health sciences and dean for E-Learning at NCTC. He served as an academic dean and chair for the School of Health Sciences during his tenure with Rasmussen University.

He attended California State Polytechnic University Pomona, where he received a B.S. in biology and M.D. from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine. A Southern California native, he and his wife Amanda, are proud parents of Giovanni, Giuliana, and Luca.
