Kristen Raney

Dr. Kristen Raney provides equity-minded leadership to deliver high-quality programs and support services that meet the diverse needs of students and industry partners. She is a visionary educator who approaches her work with empathy, integrity, and respect.

Dr. Raney has championed student success and equity in all of her roles. She currently serves as the vice chancellor of academic affairs at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Raney previously worked at Saint Paul College in St. Paul, Minnesota for six years, serving as the dean of student success, interim vice president of student affairs, and the vice president of academic affairs. She also held multiple roles at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, including faculty, manager of learning support, and dean of academic development and services. She is a peer reviewer with the Higher Learning Commission.

In her more than 18 years in higher education, Dr. Raney has gained significant experience in both academic and student affairs. As vice president, she led a multi-year effort to redesign the assessment of student learning practices and create a new program review process. Dr. Raney also established a new division dedicated to faculty and staff development, which provides support for online course design, curriculum and instruction, and assessment practices. Her leadership style has cultivated an inclusive work environment that deepens employee engagement and advances strategic initiatives. Dr. Raney earned a doctorate of education in higher education and leadership studies from Edgewood College; a master of science in education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout; and a bachelor of arts in arts in English from St. Cloud State University.
