Levy Brown

Dr. Levy Brown is a thoughtful and strategic leader with nearly two decades of experience in higher education. He currently serves as vice president of learning, student engagement and success (chief academic and student affairs officer) at Vance-Granville Community College in North Carolina. Dr. Brown is an equity-minded leader who partners with talented faculty and staff to provide an excellent student experience for individuals seeking to earn credentials. As part of his role, Brown also serves as the college’s primary lead for their student success and teaching and learning work with Achieving the Dream and the Association of Colleges and University Educators. Previously, he served as an academic dean, associate vice president of student services and enrollment, dean of student services, and adjunct faculty at other community colleges.

Dr. Brown is actively engaged on boards, commissions, and organizations focused on making a positive impact on communities and higher education. He is a member of organizations such as the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce, the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina, the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Student Success, and the Central North Carolina Chapter of National Council of Black American Affairs. Dr. Brown holds two degrees from East Carolina University, a doctorate in education with a concentration in higher education leadership and a bachelor’s in communication. He also holds a master’s in library science from North Carolina Central University.
