Mildred Coyne

Dr. Mildred Coyne serves as the senior vice president of workforce education and innovation at Broward College in Florida, overseeing workforce initiatives building the talent supply to meet employer demand. The division includes certificate and associate career programs, industry certifications, continuing education internships, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, corporate programming, career and technical student advising, career center services, and multiple workforce grant programs. In 2018, Dr. Coyne led the launch of Broward UP (Unlimited Potential), the college’s community-centric social and economic mobility movement. Broward UP provides free, in-demand education in partnership with community agencies and municipalities to address the educational needs of six zip codes with the highest unemployment rates and lowest education attainment levels. Additionally, Dr. Coyne oversees the offices for grants development, institutional research, and institutional planning and effectiveness.

At Eastern Florida State College, Dr. Coyne led the development of the first bachelorette degree and Level II Southern Association of College and Schools accreditation change. As a 28-year professional in the Florida College System, she has focused on guiding students to make educational choices mapped to careers that improve their quality of life and grow the local economy.

Earning both her doctorate and master’s degrees in higher education leadership from Capella University, Dr. Coyne is a member of Leadership Florida, Leadership Broward, and several boards, including CareerSource Broward, YMCA of South Florida, and the Urban League of Broward County. She is co-chair for the Florida College System’s Council for Workforce Education.

Mildred and her husband of 33 years, Patrick, have raised four growth-minded, thriving adults.
