Renee Craig-Marius
2020-21 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
Renee Craig-Marius has over 28 years of experience in higher education and community outreach and engagement throughout the California Central Valley. As an authentic servant leader who empowers others to be courageous and speak their voice, Renee leads transformational change focused on supporting individuals to pursue and complete postsecondary education to improve social and economic mobility.
She currently serves as the vice president of student services for Reedley College and has dedicated more than 20 years of service within the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) as an educational administrator and instructional and counseling faculty member. Renee was recently inducted into the 2019 Wall of Honor established by the African American Historical and Cultural Museum and sponsored by SCCCD, which recognizes the contributions of outstanding African Americans affiliated with the district.
Prior to her experience with SCCCD, Renee worked in outreach services and TRIO programs in the California State University system, in mental health agencies within Fresno and Madera counties, and at community-based education and career centers providing case management and employment services to economically disadvantaged adults and youth.
Renee holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling from California State University, Fresno, and is currently working on her doctorate in organizational leadership at Brandman University. She resides in Clovis, California, with her husband, Michael, and is the mother of two sons, Robert (25) and Charles (21).
