Rosline Sumpter

2024-25 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow
Dr. Rosline Sumpter is the Vice President for Academics, Student Affairs, and Research at the South Carolina Technical College System Office. In her role, she oversees state-level academic and student initiatives for the 16 technical colleges and serves as the academic representative for the agency on several statewide committees. Dr. Sumpter also serves as adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina and System Office liaison for the Community College Leadership Alliance, a graduate certificate program offered in partnership with the University of South Carolina’s College of Education. Prior to the SC Technical College System Office, Dr. Sumpter worked at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the University of South Carolina with experiences in academic advising and academic support services, and Roche Pharmaceuticals as an analytical chemist.

Dr. Sumpter is a recipient of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges Top 40 under 40 award and doctoral scholarship, SC Technical Education Association Staff of the Year, and a graduate of LeadershipSC. She previously served as a board member for the American Association for Women in Community Colleges and the Journal about Women in Higher Education. Dr. Sumpter has co-authored research in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer.

Dr. Sumpter earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Administration, all from the University of South Carolina. She is a native of Sumter, SC and member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
