Uppinder Mehan

Dr. Mehan received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Toronto, specializing in post-Colonial literature and theory. He taught as an assistant professor at Emerson College in Boston in the Writing, Literature, and Publishing Department, as an associate professor at the University of Houston-Victoria in Texas, and at Fort Valley State University. He has experience in many classroom settings, having taught face-to-face, hybrid, interactive television, and online classes.

Dr. Mehan began his administrative work at the University of Houston-Victoria, where he first served as the chair of humanities and then as associate provost, which gave him an opportunity to enter into wider institutional dialogues and to work on projects central to the university. He brings to WKCTC experience gained as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fort Valley State University in Georgia in addition to his more recent work at Muhlenberg College.

Dr. Mehan has been dean or associate provost of several institutions including Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia, and the University of Houston-Victoria in Victoria, Texas.

He has helped develop community partnerships through his work as chair of the Peach Regional Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and as board member of the Heart of Georgia Hospice and Kiwanis of Fort Valley.
