Allan Cosma

Dr. Allan Salvatore Cosma Sr. is a higher education leader, educator, and community advocate with more than 25 years of experience spanning K-12 education, higher education, and community-based youth development. He currently serves as District Associate Vice Chancellor of Educational Affairs, Workforce Development, and Career and Technical Education at Wayne County Community College District, where he leads initiatives that connect academic programs to workforce opportunity and student success.

Dr. Cosma’s leadership career includes service as Campus President, District Provost of Workforce and Economic Development, and Associate Provost of Educational Affairs. Prior to higher education, he served as a Principal in Detroit Public Schools Community District, where he led school improvement efforts, strengthened community partnerships, and was recognized as Principal of the Year for innovation in instructional programming supporting student in performing arts.

His commitment to community leadership is also reflected in his work as a Community Center Director with Michigan State University Extension’s historic 4-H urban programming in Detroit. In this role, he helped secure multi-year funding, developed youth academic and leadership programs, expanded volunteer engagement, and created enrichment opportunities serving hundreds of students and families. This work reflects his long-standing belief that education extends beyond the classroom into the community.

Dr. Cosma holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Mixed Media and Studio Art.

He is happily married to his wife Marcia and is the proud father of two children, Kennedi (26) and Allan (15). He is also an author currently developing a teen adventure novel series and a Christian inspirational study series focused on faith, leadership, and purpose.
