Dr. Amy Morrison is the ninth president of Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech), where she has served since July 2013. A first‑generation college graduate and passionate advocate for workforce education, Dr. Morrison has dedicated her career to expanding opportunity, advancing equity, and strengthening community and technical colleges as engines of economic mobility.

During her tenure at LWTech, Dr. Morrison has led the college through post‑Great Recession fiscal challenges while expanding academic programs, deepening industry and community partnerships, and strengthening student support systems. Under her leadership, LWTech has sustained a strong focus on equity, completion, and empathy, earning national recognition in 2019 as one of the Aspen Institute’s Top 150 community colleges.

Dr. Morrison is deeply engaged in local, regional, and statewide leadership, including OneEastside, the Cascadia Innovation Corridor, and the Washington Technology Industry Association. She has served as a Commissioner for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and as chair of the Washington Association of Community and Technical College Presidents’ council.

In 2025, Dr. Morrison received the Association of Community College Trustees’ (ACCT) Marie Y. Martin Chief Executive Officer Award, ACCT’s highest honor. That same year, she was named Chief Executive Officer of the Year by both the Washington State Association of College Trustees and the ACCT Pacific Region.

Prior to LWTech, Dr. Morrison held senior leadership roles at Clover Park Technical College and began her community college career at Bates Technical College. Earlier, she served as Deputy Director in the Office of Congressman Norm Dicks,

Dr. Morrison holds a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, a Master of Public Administration from The Evergreen State College, and a bachelor’s degree from Mills College. She lives in Kirkland, Washington, with her family.
