Dr. Chad Eggleston currently serves at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas as Vice President of Instruction & Student Engagement, a role he has occupied since 2024. Prior to serving in this role, he served Baylor University as Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Operations & Advising, McLennan Community College as Dean of Arts & Sciences, and Huntingdon College as Provost. He began his academic career as a faculty member in Huntingdon College’s Religion Department, where he taught Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and published his book, See and Read All These Words: The Concept of the Written in the Book of Jeremiah (Eisenbrauns, 2016). He earned his Ph.D. in Religion in 2009 from Duke University.

Helping students to find their vocation and live into it successfully has been the heart of Eggleston’s work as both a teacher and, for almost fifteen years now, as an administrator in higher education. In his career so far, he has focused his attention especially on the improvement of first-year student persistence rates, and in each institution he has led systemic institutional conversations to achieve that end. In addition to this work he has undertaken successful projects to manage information resource costs, provide consistent basic needs assistance, start new academic programs, develop resources for deeper student affairs engagement, and reform developmental education curriculum, among other initiatives. One of his strongest convictions is that a student-centered leader in higher education must not mean neglect the needs of faculty or staff, because meeting the needs of students entails and requires support for all who serve them.

Eggleston is married to Dr. Mandy McMichael, Associate Director and J. David Slover Associate Professor of Ministry Guidance at Baylor University. Together they have two children, Cady, 17, and Davis, 14.
