Dr. Doug Berry serves as the Provost and Vice President of Student Affairs at Yavapai College, bringing more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education. In this role, he provides strategic oversight for a wide range of academic divisions, including Business, Visual and Performing Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and STEM. His portfolio also encompasses critical institutional functions such as instructional support, academic master planning, and the development of key academic initiatives. In addition to his academic leadership responsibilities, Dr. Berry oversees student affairs operations, including enrollment management, retention, athletics, student life, student housing, and the Performing Arts Center, ensuring a holistic and student-centered approach to institutional effectiveness.

Previously, Dr. Berry held several senior leadership positions within the Maricopa County Community College District. His experience includes serving as an Academic Dean as well as Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs and Accreditation Liaison Officer at both Paradise Valley Community College and Phoenix College. These roles strengthened his expertise in accreditation, academic quality, and organizational leadership across complex college systems.

Dr. Berry’s professional background also includes extensive teaching experience in Psychology, reflecting his commitment to student learning and faculty engagement. His contributions to higher education have been recognized through prestigious honors, including the NISOD Employee Excellence Award and the John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.

Dr. Berry is actively engaged in national higher education initiatives. He serves as a Higher Learning Commission Peer Reviewer, contributes to the Community College Baccalaureate Association Quality Framework Task Force, and was selected to the American Association of Community Colleges Small and Rural Colleges Commission.

Dr. Berry holds a Ph.D. in General Psychology, with research focused on emotional intelligence and team cohesion, as well as a Master of Arts in Sports and Exercise Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
