John Enamait

Dr. John Enamait began serving as Stanly Community College's (SCC) fifth president in August 2016. Before that, John served as vice president of instruction at Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro, North Carolina. He also served as dean of the School of Business, Industry, and Technology at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina. John started his career at his alma mater, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson, North Carolina, where he was on thefaculty member of the Information Systems and Business Administration.

John holds a doctorate in technology management with a digital communications specialization from Indiana State University. Additionally, he earned a master’s and bachelor’s from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, and an associate degree from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. He participated in Aspen's 2019-2020 Presidential Fellowship for Community College Excellence.

He is actively engaged in business and academic communities on local, state, and national levels. John was recently appointed to the board of directors for the American Association of Community Colleges and serves as board chair for the Southern Association of Colleges with Associate Degrees. He is also active with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), having chaired three on-site reaffirmation committees, and one off-site reaffirmation committee and seven additional reaffirmation teams. John is a member of the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents, where he serves on the technology committee. Locally, he is the immediate past chair of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Stanly County Economic Development Commission and the Albemarle Rotary Club.
