Dr. Steven Jones is a transformational leader and equity-driven student advocate with experience in rural and urban community college settings. He currently serves as vice president of administrative and student services at Mississippi Delta Community College where he leads campus police, counseling and disability support services, facilities management, government relations, human resources, information technology, judicial affairs, law enforcement training academy (LETA), public relations, student activities and recreation, student development, student housing and residence life, student organizations, and title IX. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Ed.D. Higher Education Administration Program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to joining Mississippi Delta Community College in 2019, Jones served as executive director of title III and sponsored grants at Hinds Community College.
Jones was named 2022 Top Minority Business Leader by the Delta Business Journal; and 2021 Higher Education Administration Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Mississippi College. Under his leadership, Mississippi Delta Community College has received the 2021 United States Department of Defense Patriotic Employer Award.
Jones earned his doctorate in higher education administration (Ph.D.) from the University of Southern Mississippi, master’s degree in higher education administration and bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies from Mississippi College, and associate’s degree in paralegal technology from Hinds Community College. He also holds a post-master’s certificate in community college leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi and a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace from the University of South Florida. Jones is currently serving as a fellow in the Mississippi Community College Fellowship Program. He is an active member of the Rho Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
