Workforce

By 2031, it’s estimated that over 70 percent of American jobs will require a college education or training, an increase over today’s rates. The Aspen framework promotes the integration of career skills and readiness into the curriculum, the development of strong employer partnerships, and the provision of experiential learning opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships in order to prepare students for meaningful careers and enhance their long-term career prospects. With projects like Unlocking Opportunity, community colleges are working with Aspen to increase the number of students in “high-value programs,” defined as workforce programs that lead to jobs with sustaining wages and pre-major programs likely to lead to successful transfer and bachelor’s degree attainment.
