Bernard Huggins is a Senior Program Manager with the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program, supporting state and national efforts to improve transfer student success and bachelor’s degree attainment. He partners with college and university leaders, practitioners, and state agencies to strengthen transfer pathways, align cross-institution practices, and support institutions to implement research-based reforms that significantly improve outcomes for students.

Prior to joining CEP, Bernard held student-facing roles at Valencia College, The Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Central Florida, where he most recently served as the Associate Director for the Transfer Center. In that role, he led scaled transfer-focused initiatives and managed a team of professional and peer coaches dedicated to helping students navigate the transition to a four-year degree.

Bernard is a proud community college transfer student and holds a master’s degree in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, and an associate degree from Valencia College
