Dr. Elizabeth A. Mosser Knight is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Programs at Austin Community College (Austin, TX). In this role, she leads key areas such as Science, Engineering, and Mathematics; Liberal Arts; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Adult Education; International Programs; and the Honors Program. She is relentlessly student-centered, collaborative, and service-oriented in her leadership, which also spans large-scale priorities such as strategic scheduling in support of the college’s Theory of Change and North Star.

Before joining Austin Community College, Dr. Knight worked at Harford Community College (Bel Air, MD), where she led efforts in areas like curriculum and program development, assessment, instructional design, dual credit, and academic partnerships. She also helped guide the college’s strategic plan and enrollment efforts. Dr. Knight played a lead role in the Achieving the Dream initiative, which aimed to improve student outcomes via transformational methods.

Dr. Knight started her career as a faculty member, which continues to shape her approach to leadership. She believes in empowering faculty and staff to create inclusive and engaging educational environments that promote authentic learning and applied skill development, enabling students to improve their lived experiences and enhance the future prospects for their families. Her leadership style focuses on supporting students as persons, professionals, and citizens.

Dr. Knight earned her Ph.D. in higher education from Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she studied faculty development and organizational systems. She also holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from The Ohio State University, with research focused on student self-regulation. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from West Chester University, where she was a scholar-athlete in NCAA Division II tennis. Dr. Knight now calls Austin home, where she enjoys being part of a dynamic community with her husband, Ryan, and three amazing children: Emily, Christian, and Hope.
