Dr. Jennifer Kent, president of Victoria College in Victoria, Texas, is the sixth president and first woman to lead the college in its 99-year history. Jennifer took the helm in August 2020, during a progressive time in the college’s history. She has overseen multiple construction projects, the addition of workforce and academic programs, expansion of dual credit, adult education, student services, and the adoption of an equity-centered strategic plan.
Since Jennifer’s arrival, Victoria College has engaged in record-setting fundraising, including public and private grants and gifts to further the mission and vision of the college. In the May election, the community approved a bond to complete the funding of a three-story Student Success Center set to break ground this fall.
Jennifer earned her Doctor of Education in leadership from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a Master of Education in leadership from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tarleton State University.
A first-generation college graduate from rural, central Texas, Jennifer credits her success to Upward Bound, a federally funded TRIO program at Tarleton State for at-risk high school students. In 2023, she was honored as the Texas TRIO Achiever of the Year.
She has become deeply engaged with the community and is a member of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation board, the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, and multiple civic clubs and organizations. She also serves on the Executive and Legislative Committees for the Texas Association of Community Colleges.
Jennifer and her husband, Douglas, have been married for 29 years and have two children, Morgan, 21, and Maddox, 15.
