Dr. Kellie Toon is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. With 29 years of academic experience, she began her career in K-12 education before transitioning to higher education. Dr. Toon is a tenured Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Pellissippi State, where she currently continues to teach Leadership Development in a collaborative community partnership with Youth Leadership Knoxville.
Dr. Toon has significantly advanced academic excellence at Pellissippi State in her 17-year tenure at the college. Before assuming the role of Vice President, she served as the SACSCOC Quality Enhancement Plan Director and founding Director of the Pellissippi Academic Center for Excellence, the college's first center for teaching and learning. Her leadership has driven institutional innovation throughout the college and supported professional growth for faculty and staff.
As a dedicated community leader, Dr. Toon actively promotes regional leadership development through active participation in Leadership Knoxville. Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, a Master's in Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
