Dr. Kenneth W. Flowers currently serves as the Executive Vice President at Lake Michigan College (LMC) in Benton Harbor, Michigan. An alumnus of LMC, Dr. Flowers began his career in manufacturing, spending 14 years in the mold-making industry and culminating as a journeyman mold maker and designer at Hanson Mold.
In 1999, Dr. Flowers transitioned into higher education, joining LMC as a Machining and Manufacturing Instructor. Over the years, he has held several leadership roles, including Department Chair of the Technology Department, Apprenticeship Coordinator, Director of Workforce Training and Development, Dean of Career and Workforce Education, and Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. He was appointed Interim Provost in 2022 and assumed the permanent role in 2023 before becoming Executive Vice President.
Dr. Flowers’ academic credentials include an associate degree in General Studies and a Journeyman Moldmaker certificate from LMC, a Bachelor of Applied Science from Siena Heights University, a master's degree in Career & Technical Education from Ferris State University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.
A champion of career and technical education (CTE), Dr. Flowers has earned several accolades for his contributions. In 2024, he was named Postsecondary Professional of the Year by both the Michigan Association of Career and Technical Education and the Association for Career and Technical Education Region I. In 2025, he received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for his support of military reservists.
Dr. Flowers resides in St. Joseph, Michigan, with his wife, Misty. They have two children, Austin and Lindsey, and two granddaughters, Ryatt and Blair.
