Dr. Kimberly M. Lowry is an innovative leader with over 15 years of experience in higher education across multiple institutional types. She currently serves as the vice president for instruction and student services at Lone Star College-Houston North in Texas, where she works with faculty and staff to assist students in completing their educational goals. She focuses on fostering a positive student experience, promoting teaching excellence, championing innovation across the college, and developing strong internal and external partnerships. Prior to this role, she served as the associate vice chancellor of student engagement and success at Houston Community College and as the associate vice president of academic affairs and student success, executive dean of student and enrollment services, and director of advising and assessment at Eastfield College.
As a college student, Dr. Lowry attended and graduated from Antelope Valley Community College and then transferred to California State University, Long Beach, where she earned both her M.S. in counseling with an emphasis on student development in higher education and her B.A. in psychology. Dr. Lowry then received her Ph.D. in higher education from the University of North Texas. Her research focuses on community college choice, high-achieving African American students, and student athletes.
Dr. Lowry stays involved in numerous professional associations and served as the director of the Community College Division for NASPA, as well as a board member for the National Council of Instructional Administrators and the Southern Region of the National Council on Black American Affairs.
