Dr. Lennor M. Johnson, with over 26 years in educational leadership, has significantly influenced the success of first-generation and minority students. As the 10th Superintendent/President of the Imperial Community College District, his leadership has been pivotal in the district earning the prestigious Aspen Community College Excellence Prize in 2023.

Dr. Johnson’s journey with Imperial Valley College (IVC) began in 2016 as Dean of Student Services, where he worked collaboratively with his team to address the needs of diverse student populations, including foster youth, disabled individuals, and the formerly incarcerated. Promoted to Vice President of Student Services in 2018, he played a key role in securing millions in grant funding to expand crucial services for IVC students, reflecting the team's shared commitment to overcoming barriers to academic and career success.

Before joining IVC, Dr. Johnson held various leadership roles, such as Campus Director, Dean, Graduate Curriculum Chair, Professor, Director of Community Relations, and Academic Advisor. At Bryant & Stratton College, his leadership of the Bayshore Campus team resulted in accolades for student service excellence and improved retention, demonstrating the success of their collaborative efforts to support first-generation students and meet employer needs.

Dr. Johnson actively engages with the community as a member of the Imperial Rotary Club and the Imperial Valley Social Justice Committee. His leadership in education reform and economic development for minoritized communities has earned him the Stone of Hope award, a testament to his and his team's dedication to equity and social justice.

Looking ahead, Dr. Johnson and his team are focused on advancing IVC’s 2030 master plan. They aim to eliminate barriers to student success and address poverty in Imperial County. With a strong foundation and collaborative spirit, they anticipate continued success in producing top graduates and making a positive impact on the community.
