Dr. Margaret Annunziata is the president of Isothermal Community College, where she works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community leaders to promote economic and social mobility for the residents of Rutherford and Polk Counties and the surrounding region.  Her strategic vision and commitment to providing equitable access, opportunities, and outcomes for students resonate in the college’s focus on increasing educational attainment, career advancement, and economic wellbeing for those whom the college serves. Among her service in community and educational spaces, Margaret is proud to serve on the AACC Commission on College Readiness, UNC Wilmington’s Community College Collaborative Advisory Council, EducationNC’s Strategic Council, and as an executive mentor for doctoral students in the Community College Leadership (Ed.D.) program at NC State University.

Prior to joining the team at ICC, Dr. Annunziata served at Davidson-Davie Community College in a variety of roles, including vice president of academic affairs, faculty member, director of student success and institutional assessment, coordinator of workforce and continuing education programs, and director of a campus child development center.  In 2018, Dr. Annunziata was one of eight community college representatives from across the U.S. selected by the French Embassy to meet with educational and economic development leaders in Paris to address global education and workforce development.  In 2020, she was recognized by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society with the Distinguished College Administrator Award and was selected as an Aspen Rising Presidents’ Fellow.

Dr. Annunziata holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Wingate University, a Master of Science degree in human development & family studies from Auburn University, and Bachelors’ degrees in psychology and economics from Bellarmine University.  Margaret is happy to have made her home in western North Carolina with her husband, Ken, their three children, Nicholas, Michael, and Sydney, their dog Griffey, and their cat, Miracle.
