Pamela Senegal

Dr. Pamela Gibson Senegal is the president of Piedmont Community College. She previously served as vice president of economic and community development at Central Carolina Community College. She brings more than 20 years of higher education leadership, business experience, and community service to her position.
She has traveled to 29 countries, first as a military child, then as a study-abroad participant, and most recently as an educator looking at migration patterns, apprenticeship programs, and information technology transformation in Mexico, Germany, and Ireland respectively.
Senegal served as dean of career and technical programs and assistant to the president for Hispanic community outreach, and taught a college transition course for many years. Senegal’s academic career also includes serving as Central Piedmont Community College’s executive director for the Services Corporation. This 501(c)(3) organization funded the entrepreneurial ideas of faculty and staff. At CPCC, she also held positions as associate dean and computer training director.
Prior to becoming a community college professional, she worked as information technology training manager at Glenayre and change management analyst at Anderson Consulting. Senegal also brings extensive community involvement to her position, including current service on the Economic Development Commissions for Person and Caswell counties, the Person Memorial Hospital Board, and Foreign Trade Zone #93 Board. She previously served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House, Dispute Settlement Center, Charlotte Sister Cities Board, and Charlotte’s Dress for Success chapter.
Senegal holds undergraduate degrees in political science and Spanish, a master’s in public administration, and a doctorate in adult and community college education, all from N.C. State University. She also holds a training and development certificate from UNC Charlotte and the American Society for Training and Development.
Senegal has three sons, two of whom are Eagle Scouts; is active in her church; and enjoys reading and travel.
