An educator at heart, Dr. Robert DeHaas has served in multiple roles in the K-12, education non-profit and higher education space - including classroom teacher, school leader, non-profit leader, and higher education Founding Dean.

Dr. DeHaas is a passionate educator who dedicates his career to making a difference in the lives of students and teachers. Dr. DeHaas currently serves as the vice provost for Dallas College’s School of Education. He is focused on creating innovative programs – including launching the first four-year bachelor’s degree program in early childhood education and teaching in Texas. Additionally, Dr. DeHaas thinks a lot about student access to higher education, challenging status quos and ensuring every student is given a chance to succeed, regardless of their zip code. He uses his wide range of experience in leadership, nonprofit and teaching roles to help rewrite the future of education.

Now serving over 6,000 students, the Dallas College School of Education is one of the largest undergraduate education schools in Texas. As the result of its early successes, the Dallas College School of Education was named the winner of the 2022-2023 Innovation of the Year Award by the League for Innovation in the Community College.

Destined to follow in his family’s footsteps, Dr. DeHaas credits his love for education to his mother and grandmother, both of whom were dedicated teachers. While they guided the next generation of students, Dr. DeHaas quietly absorbed their love for learning, sparking his own journey into the world of education.

Dr. DeHaas received his bachelor’s degree (BA) from Duke University and received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership (MEd) from the DePaul University College of Education. He also received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance and Strategy & Entrepreneurship from the Edwin Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Rob earned his doctorate in Education from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
