Dr. Rosslyn Knight serves as the Vice President of Strategy and Chief of Staff at Guttman Community College in Manhattan, New York. Knight has over 20 years of experience in the community college sector serving as adjunct faculty in Reading and ESL, Faculty Chair for Reading and ESL, Interim Dean of Academic Affairs and District Director for Developmental Education within the Maricopa County Community College District. Prior to her work in Maricopa, Knight taught adult ESL in Sierra Leone, West Africa and as an elementary school teacher and literacy specialist in Phoenix, Arizona.
In her current role, Knight ensures the successful implementation of key institutional priorities and strategic initiatives, including spearheading special programs to enhance Guttman’s visibility and evaluation of policies, practices, and procedures in collaboration with the President’s Cabinet. In addition, she is responsible for the daily operations of the President’s Office as well as leading the work of the offices of Advancement, Institutional Research, Government Relations, and Grants and Sponsored Programs. At Guttman, Knight serves as a member of the President’s Strategy and Implementation Team and tri-chair of the Guttman Leadership Team.
Dr. Knight has presented at state and local conferences on men of color, redesigning of developmental education, and support for students in online education. She currently serves as a member of the College Board Middle States Regional Council and as a peer reviewer for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Dr. Knight earned a Doctor of Education in Community College Leadership from San Diego State University, a master’s degree in Language and Literacy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Vanderbilt University.
