Dr. Tom Nevill is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at GateWay Community College in Phoenix, AZ, with over 25 years of experience in higher education leadership. As Chief Academic Officer, he oversees academic programs, services, and operations, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of students.

Previously, Dr. Nevill was the Vice President of Academics at Butler Community College in Kansas, where he spearheaded the college’s designation as the first Adobe Creative Campus in the state. Before that, he served as the founding Dean of Arts & Digital Media at Austin Community College and held leadership roles at Pima Community College and Guilford Technical Community College.

His academic career includes serving as Chair of the NASM-accredited Department of Music at the University of Texas at Brownsville, where he founded the internationally recognized Percussion Studies Program and created the first U.S. college-credit Mexican Marimba band. He was a two-time finalist for the UT Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award and received the NISOD Excellence Award.

Dr. Nevill holds a Bachelor of Music from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
