Dr. Travaris Harris currently serves as the Vice President of Instruction at Cabrillo College. With 25 years of experience in higher education, he has held roles including Associate Provost of Student Success, Dean of Business and Social Sciences, Dean of Students, and faculty member at Harper College in Palatine, IL. He has led the implementation of Guided Pathways reforms, overseen first-year learning communities, and developed faculty training workshops aimed at improving classroom success for historically minoritized students. Additionally, he created an award-winning summer bridge program and received recognition from the Obama Administration for his leadership in securing health coverage for uninsured students. Dr. Harris is a student-centered professional dedicated to making higher education accessible to all.

Dr. Harris earned a bachelor's degree in History from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation from SIU. He obtained his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. In 2012, he co-authored Diversity and Social Justice in a Changing United States (Dubuque, IA: Kendall Hunt). Dr. Harris is an active member of several national associations, including the American Association of Community Colleges, the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship, and NASPA (Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education).
