The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program, in partnership with the Community College Research Center (CCRC), developed Unlocking Opportunity: Eight Strategies for Community Colleges to Improve Post-Completion Outcomes, based on lessons from the network's ten pilot network colleges. The guide highlights eight evidence-based strategies that strengthen programs and advising to improve credential value and post-graduation success—insights especially relevant as too few community college students earn credentials that lead to good jobs or successful transfer and attainment of a bachelor’s degree.
This guide is designed for college leaders, senior teams, and partners who are committed to ensuring that more students graduate with credentials that provide real economic mobility—and help regional employers find the talent they need to thrive.
To help colleges act on these lessons, Aspen and CCRC provide actionable guidance, case studies, and frameworks that translate national research into practical steps for improving program quality, advising systems, and student outcomes.
