Dr. Jamal Scott is the Vice President of Strategy and Community Development for Waubonsee Community College, serving in this role since 2015. He has oversight of all organizational planning, marketing and communications, admissions, and institutional effectiveness, including all federal and state grants, helping lead the college to successful awarding of consecutive, federal, Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions (Title V) grants.
In 2016, Dr. Scott researched and developed the Waubonsee Dunham Fund Quick Path one-year, associate degree, securing a $500,000 grant to remove barriers to completion for students seeking this accelerated path. Dr. Scott has served as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 2014 and is the college’s accreditation liaison officer to the HLC, where he led the college to reaffirmation of accreditation in 2017 and a successful assurance review in 2021, meeting all five criteria.
Dr. Scott serves as an adjunct instructor and dissertation advisor for the National-Louis University Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership program in the National College of Education, where he developed the HED 622 course in Strategic Enrollment Management. He has served in similar capacities for the Benedictine University Ed.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change program and for the Masters in Organizational Leadership program for Indiana Wesleyan University.
Dr. Scott currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. He is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Aurora, IL Regional Chamber of Commerce, one of the select, five-star Chambers of Commerce in Illinois.
Dr. Scott holds a certificate in marketing strategy from Cornell University, an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, a Master of Public Administration degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
