An educator and academic leader with more than 30 years of experience at public and private colleges in the northeast, Ellen Gambino, Ed.D., has distinguished herself as an innovator and collaborator adept at advancing institutional goals and committed to improving student outcomes.

Currently Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services at Dutchess Community College, part of the State University of New York, Ellen is responsible for all teaching, learning and student support operations. In 2016, she was instrumental in the development of the College’s new five-year strategic plan, and she works closely with the president and campus community to devise, execute and support key initiatives that align with the plan and propel the institution forward.

Additionally, Ellen spearheaded a Pathway to Technology program with a local under-performing school district, the application and implementation of the College’s first TRiO grant, and the redesign of the academic advising process. She also provided leadership in the writing of the College’s Middle States Decennial Accreditation Self-Study, the execution of a faculty-led student learning outcomes assessment project, and the negotiation of three faculty and staff union contracts.

Ellen’s contributions to higher education and Dutchess Community College were recognized with a State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Professional Service in 2013. She has a doctorate in Executive Leadership from Saint John Fisher College; the subject of her thesis was developmental education. She has a master’s degree from Pace University and a bachelor’s from SUNY New Paltz.
