Dr. Ian Roark serves as the vice president of workforce development for Pima Community College in Arizona. He is the college’s single point of contact for workforce development initiatives, and works with internal and external stakeholders to respond to the workforce needs of businesses and industry and programmatic alignment to the economic development priorities of the region and state. He also leads the Workforce Development Division, which serves 6,000 students annually in certificate, degree, and continuing education programs.

With 19 years of education experience, Ian previously served as a secondary-level music and social studies teacher, assistant principal, K-12 administrator, and community college dean. Dr. Roark holds a bachelor of music degree from Angelo State University, a master’s of education/educational leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and a doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Dr. Roark is dedicated to workforce development innovation, the future of work, P-16 reform, and business and industry partnerships, with an emphasis on student access, success, and upward mobility. He also presents at state and national conferences on these topics. Ian currently serves on the Pima Association of Governments Economic Vitality Advisory Committee, Tucson United Way ELDER Alliance Leadership Council, Tucson Metro Chamber Board of Directors, Arizona Cyber Team Workforce Development Committee, Arizona Community College Coordinating Council Workforce and Economic Development Task Force (chair), Arizona Association of Economic Development Government Affairs Committee, Pacific Southwest Region University Transportation Center Executive Committee, and the Manufacturing Institute Education Council.
