Dr. Michelle Schutt has more than two decades of experience supporting students, staff and faculty through her work in higher education leadership. She currently serves as the vice president of learner & community services at the College of Southern Idaho, the state’s first Hispanic Serving Institution. Dr. Schutt is inspired by the community college mission of providing affordable, accessible education, and changing family trees. Applying her transformational leadership style, she has a proven track record for orchestrating student success initiatives in collaboration with diverse faculty and staff college-wide.
As an educator first and foremost, Dr. Schutt recognizes the power of teaching and learning and believes that what goes on in the classroom personifies the heart and soul of the collegiate enterprise. Michelle regularly teaches classes in english and social responsibility. She is an active contributor to the field through her presentations at national conferences and mentorship of Ph.D. student practicums. Currently, she is writing a book with Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, slated for publication in the Spring of 2022.
Schutt earned her Ph.D. in education and human resource studies, with a specialization in higher education from Colorado State University. Schutt holds master’s degrees in social responsibility from St. Cloud State University and English education from Emporia State University. Her bachelors is in English education from Upper Iowa University. In the summer of 2019, Michelle participated in the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University.
