Dr. Tashika Griffith is a first-generation higher education administrator and strategic leader. As provost of St. Petersburg College’s (SPC) Clearwater campus and Acting Dean of the College of Education, she offers visionary leadership and oversees multiple key units including Academic Advising, Student Life & Leadership, Accessibility, and Career Services. With over twenty-five years of extensive experience in post-secondary education, Dr. Griffith excels in developing and implementing educational programs and support services.
Dr. Griffith is renowned for developing initiatives that bridge students and industry, and meaningful community engagement lies at the heart of her leadership philosophy. She was recently awarded The Stellar Champion of Business Award by the Amplify Clearwater Chamber which recognized her commitment to business. Dr. Griffith also served as Chair of the Grow Smarter initiative, a comprehensive economic development strategy emphasizing inclusive prosperity and equitable economic growth. Under her stewardship, an endowed scholarship was established to support academic certifications in regional targeted industry areas.
Her professional journey includes pivotal roles within Multicultural Affairs, University Police, Career Services, Student Activities, and the Dean of Students Office. She has also been actively involved in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Center for Women. Prior to her tenure at SPC, she served in various leadership roles such as Associate Dean of Students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Miami, and Director of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Scranton.
Dr. Griffith earned her bachelor's degree in English with a certification in Ethnic Studies from Florida Atlantic University, her master’s degree in Higher Education and Leadership Policy Studies from Virginia Polytechnic and State University, and her doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. She also holds a professional certificate in Ensuring Equitable Student Success in Higher Education from Harvard University.
